Green Guy Recycling Hosts Customer Appreciation Day

On December 19, 2015, Green Guy hosted a Customer Appreciation Day celebration by serving free BBQ to customers and guests. The event gave the crew a chance to thank the community and customers for the business and support throughout the year. A good time was had by all!

 

New Era Begins at Green Guy Recycling

On July 31, 2015, Jeremy Kay purchased Green Guy Recycling from company founder, Kyle Hahn. Jeremy joined Green Guy in 2005 and served as the Operations Manager for 8 years. Kyle turned down several corporate buyout offers before deciding to retire and sell the company to his long-time friend and employee. During the past decade, Kyle and Jeremy worked together to achieve many milestones at Green Guy including, winning the Keep Texas Beautiful Business Award, securing a 5 year contract with the City of San Marcos, and recycling over 170 million pounds of material.Green Guy will remain the friendly local center for household recyclables and bustling marketplace for buying and selling scrap metal. The employees are thankful for Kyle’s leadership and generosity over the years and are excited to move forward and reach new goals with Jeremy.

 

Green Guy Recycling wins Governor’s Small Business Award

Green Guy Recycling won the Governor’s Small Business Award for San Marcos at the 2015 GSMP Business Forum! We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for our company and crew. We are fortunate to live and work in such an outstanding region. Congratulations to all the winners!

 

Green Guy Recycling Donates Value of Flood Related Metal to Community Organizations

In response to the Memorial Day Flood, Green Guy Recycling collected over 733,000 lbs of flood debris and diverted over 223,000 lbs from the landfill. The dollar value of the collected metal, just over $15,000, was donated back to the local organizations that led the flood relief effort.

These organizations include: The American Red Cross, My Neighbor’s Keeper, The United Way, Citi Impact, Barnabus Connection, Southside Community Center, Austin Disaster Relief Network, Knights of Columbus, Ministerial Alliance of Caldwell County, Promiseland San Marcos, Community Action of Central Texas, and the Upstream Monitor Warning project led by Hays County.

We are thankful that we were able to donate this money to those affected by the flood. We were moved by the number of local volunteers who pitched in to help and the generosity of the local businesses who provided assistance. We love this community and are proud to be here.

 

Green Guy Recycling Wins Keep Texas Beautiful Award

On June 25, 2014, Keep Texas Beautiful awarded Green Guy Recycling First Place for the Ebby Halliday & Maurice Acers Business/Industry Award for locally owned businesses who protect the environment.

San Marcos City Council Approves 5 Year Contract with Green Guy Recycling for Drop Off Center

On June 17, 2014, the San Marcos City Council approved an extension of the contract to operate the Drop Off Center. The contract also includes recycling services for city facilities and special events, as well as labor for the Household Hazardous Waste Collection site. The original contract dates back to 2008.

 

Green Guy Recycling Profiled in the Green Issue of Bobcat Fans Magazine

In February, 2014, Nancy Young profiled Green Guy Recycling in Bobcat Fans Magazine article. Owner, Kyle Hahn, gave the journalist a tour of the facility in preparation for the article.

Chamber of Commerce Awards Green Guy Recycling Green Business of the Year (1-50 Employees)

On November 14, 2013, the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce awarded Green Guy Recycling with Green Business of the Year (1-50 employees). Owner, Kyle Hahn, received the award at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Gala.
