Items We Accept

*Certain fees do not apply to San Marcos residential trash and recycling utility customers.  Waived fees are limited to 5 passenger tires, 1 TV, 2 computer monitors, and 2 freon bearing appliances per year.  A City of San Marcos Utility Bill with "Recycle Center Services" must be shown DURING BUSINESS HOURS and the utility bill needs to be in the owner's name.

Paper

All paper is accepted including, newspaper, magazines, catalogs, junk mail, office paper, phone books, hardback books, and paperback books.

Plastic Bottles

WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY OTHER FORMS OF PLASTIC

Plastic bottles #1-2 are accepted.  The neck MUST be smaller than the base. Includes water bottles, milk jugs, soda liter bottles, etc.  We cannot accept lighter plastic such as yogurt containers and plastic grocery bags, nor can we accept heavy plastic such as various-sized totes and playscapes.

Glass Bottles and Jars

All colors of glass bottles and jars are accepted.  They do not need to be sorted by color.  We DO NOT accept plate glass.

Aluminum Foil and Pie Plates.jpg

Aluminum Foil and Pie Plates

Foil and pie plates are accepted.  They need to be clean and free of residual food products.

Aluminum Cans

Clean used aluminum beverage containers are accepted.  We accept whole or crushed cans.  They must be clean with no liquid or other debris.

Tin Cans and Small Scrap Metal

Tin cans and small scrap steel are accepted.  They need to be clean and free of residual food products.

Large Scrap Metal and Appliances

Large scrap metal and appliances are accepted in the drop off center.  These include washers, dryers, water heaters, and lawn mowers, etc.  Large freon bearing appliances, such as refrigerators and freezers, are accepted for a $10.00 fee.  Small freon bearing appliances, such as window A/C units, are accepted for a $5.00 fee.  Fees are waived for San Marcos city residents who pay for recycling services through the City of San Marcos Utility Bill.  A City of San Marcos utility bill with the "Recycle Center Services" must be shown.

Cardboard and Brown Paper

Cardboard and brown paper bags are accepted.  Boxboard, such as cereal boxes can be dropped off in the same containers.  Cardboard must be clean and boxes must be broken down.

TVs and Monitors

TVs and computer monitors are accepted during business hours ONLY.   The fee to accept these items is $0.35/lb for all monitors and TVs.  The fees are waived for up to one television and two computer monitors per year for San Marcos city residents who pay recycling services through the City of San Marcos Utility BillA City of San Marcos utility bill with "Recycle Center Services" must be shown DURING BUSINESS HOURS and the utility bill needs to be in the owners name.

Electronics

We accept electronics during regular business hours.  We accept anything with a circuit board, including:  computer towers, DVD and VCR players, cell phones, iPads and tablets, etc.  Please refer to our What We Buy page for more information on various electronic components, including the various types of electrical wire like string lights and extension cords.

Lead Acid Batteries

All lead acid batteries are purchased for recycling.  Please call for current pricing.

Used Motor Oil and Anti-Freeze

Used motor oil and anti-freeze are accepted.  All petroleum based auto fluids can go in the bin including:  power steering fluid, transmission fluid, hydraulic oil, and gear oil.  Please limit drop off to 5 gallons per person per day. *Used cooking oil is no longer accepted*

Oil Filter

Oil filters are accepted for a $0.50/filter fee and can be dropped off in the designated 55 gallon drums available by the used oil containers.

Tires

Tires are accepted during business hours ONLY.  Passenger tires are accepted for a $5.00/tire fee.  18-wheeler tires are accepted for a $15/tire fee.  The fee for up to 5 passenger tires can be waived for residents of the City of San Marcos who pay for recycling services through the City of San Marcos.   A City of San Marcos utility bill with the "Recycle Center Services" must be shown DURING BUSINESS HOURS and the utility bill needs to be in the owners name.

Ink Cartridges

We do accept ink cartridges, however we do not accept toner cartridges.
